As a service to its junior members, the Guild of Free Adventurers in Evenhold owns and operates a nearby training area where green adventurers can test their mettle, practice with weapons and armor, and even earn a bit of easy gold.
Occupying some small caverns that have been partially shaped into corridors, chambers, and crude cells, the "Beginners Cave" challenges visitors to fight a variety of summoned low-level opponents including wild animals and monsters, all magically maintained by the enigmatic guild warden known as the Warlord. A knight marshal routinely stands guard outside the entrance.
The cave is a short horse ride south from the Main Hall, at the end of a worn road that leads to the entrance. The cave itself is in a coastal bluff near the shore of the Malphigian Sea which winds downward to a sheltered cove frequented by pirates.
