Above the town of Nivek in the foothills of northwestern Rhyl stands the Temple of Loth, a once majestic structure now reduced to a hollow, crumbling ruin.
The dark elves known as the drow built the pyramid-shaped temple millennia ago to honor their deity Loth (now more commonly known as Lolth), queen of spiders and goddess of cruelty. One of Loth's most formidable acolytes was the temple's high priestess Tar-Anclime who created the deadly Amulet of Chaos as a weapon to use against the drows' elven enemies, but the amulet was lost when the elves laid seige to the temple and slaughtered the drow.
Legends suggest that the amulet remains hidden somewhere within the ruined temple, and that descendants of the drow said to be living secretly in the mountains to the northwest may be trying to recover it.
