As the lands of southern Addar fall to the forces of the dreaded Darklord Skeleus, the sorcerer encloses them within the Shadow Wall, a magical smoke-like barrier that inhibits his enemies from passing through. These conquered territories, withered by the effects of the wall, are collectively known as the Shadowlands for their grey and faded appearance.

The Shadowlands currently encompass the northern and eastern portions of the Plain of Srevi, the western Spicelands, the southern portion of Malboria, the kingdom of Pendrama, and the former land of Kor. Eastern portions of Nexdor and Dorier have also fallen into shadow as the Darklord pushes onward.
