The Rites of Xanara are a set of potent magical spells described in the Pact of Tuduska intended to moderate the effects of the Tide. By balancing and aligning the magical energies around the caster, overcharged hot spots ("gouts") and low-magic dead zones ("slubs") are prevented for decades throughout the entire surrounding region.
The rites are among the highest-level magical spells known, and are so complex and demanding to perform that only the most capable mages can successfully execute them.
