Traveling from the city of Evenhold to the northern ports on the coast of the Cold Seas is a journey of nearly 700 miles, and those intrepid traders and explorers who make the trip invariably follow the Great North Road.
From Evenhold through the city of Vaalpa the route is broad and smoothly paved with stone blocks, then near Geldhaven it becomes an earthen road with a gravel surface. The thoroughfare is wide and well maintained well into the Davelmar Forest, but farther north it becomes narrower and more uneven. In places the route follows the path of the mighty Sayell River but mostly runs miles to the east of it, following ridges and clearings in the Northern Forests.
The northernmost stretches of the road wind through low, lake-riddled countryside before finally reaching the harbor city of Andport.
