Ervuol (🔊), often referred to as the Ervuolian Empire, was a mighty civilization that arose in central Addar around 4700 BA and flourished for millennia, attaining great heights of cultural and technological sophistication. In cooperation with Lanst and other neighboring powers, Ervuol was instrumental in deterring the Eighth Ruin in 2704 BA and ushering in the Age of Adventure.
At its height, Ervuol controlled nearly the entire region surrounding the Sea of Dreams, either directly or through smaller vassal states. It founded colonies in more distant parts of the continent and had outposts in Ja'gala, the Western Isles, and likely beyond.
Around 1700 BA Ervuol's relations with Lanst began to sour and the longtime allies grew competitive and antagonistic, both developing exotic technologies of destruction. The conflict culminated in a short but catastrophic war that ended in 1410 BA with the annihilation of both nations. Recovering and studying fragments of their culture has since become a focus of many historians and antiquarians.
