Davelmar Forest is a vast and largely unbroken expanse of woodland that spawls across an area of nearly 15,000 square miles, filling the high plain between the Aevinn Range and the Horn Belt, and extending from Woodmarch in the south all the way to the wild lands of the Northern Reaches. The mighty Sayell River winds its way north through Davelmar, as does the Great North Road which connects Evenhold with the kingdoms of the Reaches, ultimately terminating at the coastal city of Andport some 600 miles north.
A number of scattered settlements lie in and around the region, the most southerly being the towns of Geldhaven and Whisenwood. Banner Elk and Crystalbay lie just outside it to the north where the forest thins into more scattered bands of trees. Few settlements exist in the thickly wooded heart of Davelmar.
Lost settlements and abandoned fortifications from ages past are believed to exist throughout the deep forest, but only a handful are known and much of the region is not well charted.
