Magic in the world of Eamon is broadly divided into two categories depending on how and where it originates: arcane magic and divine magic.
Arcane magic arises naturally from the cosmic forces that flow through the world and the surrounding universe. It's the most accessible and commonly used magic in Eamon.
Unlike divine magic, anyone with sufficient training or aptitude can tap into arcane magic and exploit its potential. Those who have some inherent or in-born connection to arcane magic are usually called sorcerers or sorceresses, while those who achieve magical proficiency through study and training are called wizards or witches. (Mage is an inclusive term for all.)
Arcane magic can be used for almost any purpose one can imagine: to summon or control creatures, manipulate energy, enhance or diminish abilities, control perception, empower artifacts, build or demolish structures, convert one substance into another, and much more.
