Sailors on Eamon have long measured distances at sea in terms of Weyren Strides, a system named in honor of the sea-god Weyren, patron deity of mariners and fishermen. One Weyren Stride is equal to about four-and-a-half miles.

As an example, sailors in the city of Evenhold would likely give the distance to Leanda Atoll, a small island in the Malphigian Sea, as a little more than 13 Weyren Strides. They would also probably express its location in terms of strides east/west and north/south of Evenhold Harbor: 6 west, 12 south, or (6W, 12S).

Weyren Strides are rarely used to express distances on land.
