Known today as the Castle of Riveneta, this small stone castle and surrounding estate in eastern Marewood Forest was for centuries used by the rulers of the Kingdom of Evenhold as a summer residence. Overlooking the nearby Westsong River and surrounded by a mix of dense forest and open glades, it afforded rulers a peaceful retreat from the bustle of Evenhold and abundant game for hunting.

The site was particularly favored by Queen Riveneta, wife of Evenhold's previous ruler King Othir, who fell in love with the castle when she first visited it, and around 1160 made it her primary residence. Devoted to his wife, the king commissioned numerous improvements to the building and its grounds, and the two held court there for much of each year. The queen's sudden and unexplained death at the castle in 1177 devastated the king, who in his grief ordered the castle vacated and abandoned, never to be used again. The king himself died three years later.

The forest has now reclaimed the surrounding grounds and the castle remains officially sealed.
