The "Old Empires of Eamon" is a term used by modern historians to refer to the ancient empires of Ervuol and Lanst, powers which first arose in central Addar roughly six thousand years ago in the wake of the Seventh Ruin. The term sometimes also includes the magical land of Kor. The Old Empires are remembered for achieving heights of technological and magical sophistication that have yet to be equaled in the modern world.
Ervuol and Lanst were close allies for many centuries and collaborated to successfully interrupt the Eighth Ruin, but in the years that followed they grew competitive and distrustful of each other, and in 1,412 BA fought a calamitous war that shattered both empires.
