Naelend, referred to in Addar as Northland, is the smallest of Eamon's continents and lies across the seas far to the northeast. Warm ocean currents flowing from the south promote a mild climate there despite being at a higher latitude than even the most northerly point of Addar.
The origin of Northland's modern inhabitants — mostly humans and goblins — is uncertain but similarities of culture and languge suggest they were emigrants from Addar who journeyed there more than a millennium ago. The continent's largest city is the port of Sayhar which was established by human colonists in 180 YA and whose founding marks the beginning of the local system of reckoning years.
A society of goblin tribes unified under the warlord Gra'sha dominates the mountainous eastern part of the continent, but the larger western portion is controlled by various human nations. The most dominant of these is the North Kingdom, a federation of smaller countries united under the King of Sayhar, currently Alnaron III.
The Magi, a group of seven mysterious and power-hungry sorcerers from lands across the sea to the east, invaded Northland in 1138 YA, first attacking the goblin tribes, then making war with the human nations of the west. Despite heavy losses, the Northlanders ultimately defeated the invaders in 1165 YA and the four surviving enemy sorcerers were banished to another dimension.
