Merfolk are water-dwelling beings with a human-like head and torso but a scaled, fish-like tail. They're known to inhabit the warm and relatively shallow areas of the Sea of Dreams and the Malphigian Sea, and possibly many other coastal areas of Eamon. The only significant merfolk settlement known to exist near Evenhold is the undersea city of Cântyra off the coast of Merrowmarch.
Merfolk tend to be reclusive and rarely choose to interact with other races, but when encountered by travelers who pose no threat they're often gracious and accommodating.
Merfolk are distinct from the sea-dwelling Tritons.
