Stretching more than fifty miles across several shires, the sprawling Marewood Forest is a thick, green cloak that drapes over the heart of the Kingdom of Evenhold, covering the region's hills and winding valleys with stands of ancient oaks and groves of ash, hazel, and hawthorn. Hunting parties often venture into Marewood in pursuit of deer and other forest game, but must be wary of some of the strange and dangerous predators that lurk in its darker ravines.
Settlements in or near the forest include Belbury and East Horseshoe in northwestern quarter; the bandit capital of Frukendorf near the southwestern fringes; Vulden and Falmen along the north; and the village of Sloborough in the south. A handful of roads cut through Marewood but its centermost portion is trackless and difficult to traverse. In this area lies the tomb of the wizard-king Evron, long concealed in the thick growth and only recently re-discovered.
