Centered on the capital city of Evenhold, Evenshire is one of the busiest and most populous shires in the kingdom, with traders, pilgrims, and fortune-seekers from all parts of the continent entering through its harbor or along the great roads that converge there. It's also one of the oldest regions in the kingdom, dating back to the founding of the ancient land of Aevinn over 1,700 years ago, and inhabited for many millennia before. Evenshire's people, predominanly humans, live mostly in and around the city of Evenhold, with the remainder inhabiting the towns of Dodge, Dunderhaven, Hobnail, or Mudville, or in other small rural communities.

Forests, meadows, and cultivated fields dot the landscape of Evenshire and produce abundant quantities of timber, grain, and meat, while fish are bountiful in the Westsong and Zyphur rivers and in the waters along the shores of the Malphigian Sea. The coastal bluffs in the southeast yield stone and metals. Numerous castles and fortifications, some built by recent rulers and others dating back hundreds or even thousands of years, adorn the shire's hilltops.

The kingdom's first railroad line, recently constructed based on principles acquired from Knieriem, follows the coastline and connects the shire's communities with Frukendorf in the west and Southport in the east.

Evenshire is governed by a shire lord appointed by the king. The current office-holder is the wealthy Lord Tawley, who though amiable and devoted to his three daughters is also fixated on expanding his coffers. He resides — and conducts shire business — in his castle on a handsome estate northwest of the city.
