Evenhold University is a venerable academic and research university located just north of the town of Mudville in southeastern Evenshire. Rising in the first century YA from an earlier scholastic guild, it is today the preeminent institution of higher learning in the Kingdom of Evenhold.
Physically the university consists of a grassy central quad surrounded by a number of centuries-old gothic buildings built mostly of limestone, several connected by elevated walkways. Behind their ancient oaken doors lie the offices, libraries, and lecture halls of various colleges and departments, including those dedicated to alchemy, archaeology, cryptozoology, engineering, history, mathematics, necromancy, physics, rhetoric, and others. Some also contain the dormitories, dining halls, and common rooms used by the university's many students.
The university's rector is the elderly and distinguished Oriflamme "Ori" Bramblewood, a former professor of rhetoric with a tendency for long-winded oration. Notable faculty include the polymath Thomias Larkspur; chemist and alchemical researcher Bonaventure Axom; and Nicola Quillthorn, a lecturer and skilled practitioner of magic who previously taught at Dark Spire.
