The Empire of Dorier (🔊) is one of Evenhold's largest neighbors, situated south of the kingdom beyond the border land of Rinillion and stretching more than 400 miles along the Palm Coast of the Sea of Dreams.
The empire's original extents, known as Old Dorier, lie southwest of the Wyvern Mountains and include the stately capital and harbor of Dorier City. A century-long program of expansion beginning around 1080 YA pushed the empire's borders far to the south, encompassing nearly the entire region down to the Sax Mountains and east to the pass of Alvard, an area now known as Far Dorier. Though the native tribes were dispersed and the lands partially settled, the expense of occupying the region led to Dorier's forces largely withdrawing from the southern lands by the end of the twelfth century. Though still nominally part of the empire, the region's inhabitants mostly live in quiet isolation.
The people of Dorier are predominantly humans who coexist peaceably with minorities of halflings and dwarves. Some seafaring elves have settlements near the capital, and tribes of lizardfolk live in the far south.
