It's unclear when the network of tunnels and burial chambers known as the Catacombs were first made, but artifacts and carvings found within suggest they date back at least to the era of Old Empires, and possibly well before. How far and deep the chambers run is unknown. Bandits reportedly hide out in the tunnels, and a colony of orcs has taken possession of a section for themselves.
The Catacombs are situated below the hills in a bend of the Zyphur River northeast of Cynwood. The water in a smaller stream just to the north turns to blood as it passes the Catacombs, pointing to some strange and ancient magic still lingering in the site.
