The Black Castle is an abandoned fortress in the northeasterly province of Gwill just beyond the Dead Forest.
Once the seat of the House of Rovnart, it was seized by the king's forces in 986 after Count Artus Rovnart embraced dark demonic practices and was ruled an imminent threat to the kingdom. Most of the castle's inhabitants died in its defense, leading to the extinction of the Rovnart line. The castle was left abandoned and is now a ruin.
