The Whale Way is a long, arc-shaped shoal that stretches out into the northern Sea of Dreams south of the province of Merrowmarch, named for the many whales and other large sea creatures that passing sailors often spot in the clear, shallow waters.
Rumors say that the shoal's southern end is the site of a sunken city of merfolk, and that on dark nights its lights may be seen distantly twinkling under the waves, but locals avoid following the Whale Way or hunting its abundant sea life for fear of antagonizing the city's denizens.
