The Knife is the one of the very few permanent settlements in northeastern Addar and is surrounded by the Shadow Desert, one of the most inhospitable regions in all of Eamon. The town sits directly below a long fissure in the Floating Island at a point where the sky is visible only in a narrow, blade-shaped swath.
The town survives by catering to the brave or foolhardy treasure hunters who seek rare gems in the Shadow, with businesses offering food, drink, lodging, and supplies. Though the Knife has a handful of paid constables who protect some of the more successful business ventures, it's otherwise a lawless and violent place oppressed by the gloom of the looming island. The townsfolk are diverse and include representatives of nearly every race in Addar.
