The Talus Assembly was an elite society created jointly by the Old Empires around 3200 BA to counter the anticipated Eighth Ruin.
Composed of the foremost scholars and magical practitioners from Lanst, Ervuol, and Kor, the assembly spent generations secretly researching the powers and rhythms of the Great Old Ones and ultimately discovered methods of harnessing exotic energies capable of influencing them. When the Ruin began in 2704 BA, the assembly succeeded in returning the ancient beings to a state of slumber, sparing Eamon from devastation.
Following their success, most members of the assembly dispersed but a core continued their research, delving ever deeper into the dark energies that empowered the hordes of the Great Old Ones. As relations between Ervuol and Lanst grew strained, the knowledge they gleaned was used to craft weapons of terrible power, and when war broke out in 1412 BA they were deployed to devastating effect, resulting in the annihilation of both empires.
