Sagamore Castle is an ancient fortification that stands on a rocky prominence overlooking the nearby road, erected centuries ago to guard the southern pass into the land of the Sister Mountains. The castle, along with the village that's grown up in the hills below its walls, is the ancestral home of the kingdom's ruling family, and the current monarch — King Kadmis Sagamore, a master sorcerer and necromancer — often holds court there.

Raiders sent by warlords from the Barbarian Lands occasionally invade the pass and menace the castle, but are kept in check by a batallion of skeletal soldiers raised and animated by King Sagamore.
