The once bucolic land of Pendrama occupies a pocket of lightly forested plains on the eastern border of the Kingdom of Nexdor in Inner Addar.
The kingdom was founded in the early first millennium by a powerful and benevolent wizard-king who crafted a number of potent magical artifacts to protect his people from harm. Passed down through many generations of kings and queens, the artifacts — chief among them an enchanted staff — helped the land to resist invaders and flourish until the forces of the dreaded Darklord Skeleus reached the borders in 1199. Though unable to overcome the staff's wards, he succeeded in stealing it away from the king, weakening the protections enough for his forces to overwhelm the kingdom's defenses and occupy the land.
Pendrama now lies almost entirely within the Darklord's Shadow Wall, the magical barrier he casts to shield his advancing forces, and the landscape has become grey and withered.
