In present-day Addar, geographic distances — particularly those across land — are most often expressed in terms of miles, with a mile on Eamon equal in length to a mile on Earth (5,280 feet). It became an official measure of distance in the Kingdom of Evenhold in the early 800s, superseding a host of more unreliable measures like rides, chains, leagues, lands, tenshields, dragonwings, and others, and is now commonly used across much of the continent.
