Just as on Earth, the system of latitude and longitude used on Eamon defines points on the surface of the planet by indicating degrees north or south (latitude) of the equator and east or west (longitude) of the prime meridian.
The modern prime meridian of Eamon passes through the Main Hall of the Guild of Free Adventurers in the city of Evenhold, a convention established in 230 YA at the dawn of the Age of Exploration by seafarers and cartographers based at the newly-established guild. The latitude and longitude of the Main Hall is exactly 41.6298° North, 0° East.
Map-makers in the Old Empires used a similar system, though with their own prime meridian and units of angular measurement.
