Scholars count the ancient land of Kor as one of the Old Empires, but unlike the ambitious nations of Ervuol and Lanst it focused less on territorial gains and more on the accumulation of wisdom and the mastery of magic.

Though its origins are lost in the chaos and destruction of the Ages of Ruin, fragmentary records attest to Kor's existence shortly after the Sixth Ruin in 7300 BA and it may date back even earlier, the nucleus of its civilization weathering the periodic waves of decimation. The heart of Kor was the city of Ishvatur, situated on the shores of the Gulf of Hedrin, a city of great stone halls and libraries where the luminaries of Addar would meet and share their knowledge.

By around 4000 BA Kor had become an ally of Evruol and Lanst, and in 3200 BA the three established the Talus Assembly to thwart the coming Ruin. The effort was successful but the knowledge gained proved dangerous and contributed to the downfall of both empires. Kor persisted but was diminished, and over the following centuries shrank to little more than the area immediately around Ishvatur.

Today Kor is most familiar to Evenholders through songs and legends of bygone ages.
