Kahr-Dur (🔊) is an ancient stronghold built into the mountains overlooking the western city of Fahrnor. The location was in ancient times the seat of Carumbar, a propserous land that became a vassal state of the Empire of Ervuol. It survived the empire's dissolution to become an independent kingdom around 1,400 BA, then part of the united Kingdom of Evenhold in 1 YA. Since that time the fortress has gradually fallen out of regular use and is now abandoned.
The main entrance to Kahr-Dur is hewn into the southern face of a peak, with large doors opening into long halls and chambers that stretch into the mountain. The fortress connects to a set of natural caverns that ultimately open onto a secluded mountain valley and Tangledoom Forest.
