The House of Anharos was a noble house and ruling family established by Anharos the Pure, first king of Evenhold and hero of the Great Battle of Darkness. The king and his immediate descendants were widely admired by their subjects and the family led Evenhold ably for nearly two centuries.
When Corlis III died in 194, a succession crisis between his twin eldest children Charlast and Calibeth sparked a disastrous and inconclusive civil war that ended with power being seized by a new ruling council. Both claimants were exiled and ruling power stripped from the monarchy, reducing it to a figurehead.
Corlis's youngest child Kensha was crowned as ceremonial queen and became the nominal head of the shattered house. Her marriage created the combined House of Anharos-Varberg, which in later generations became simply Varberg.
