The wandering mountain of Helstar is a unique phenomenon: a piece of landscape that has somehow become detached from any world or time. The mountain drifts freely across interplanar space, briefly materializing in one world and time period before slipping away to another.
The drifting mass consists of a low, wooded mountain peak and several miles of surrounding countryside containing a small human town and sections of highway and railway line. It seems to have originated from somewhere in North America on modern Earth (or a close parallel version of it), but its rare appearances have been noted across millennia and on multiple worlds including Eamon, Earth, and others. The mass spends just a few days or weeks in any one site before vanishing.
The few existing eyewitness accounts of Helstar agree that it's only sparsely inhabited. Its people are a strange mix of surviving natives along with thieves, explorers, monsters, and unlucky bystanders from other sites across the universe, all pulled through time and space along with the drifting mass.
