The annual Saturnalia is coming up soon and you find yourself in an embarrassing position. After your last adventure you went on a two-week binge that has left you flat broke. If you are unable to buy rounds of drinks for your friends at the Main Hall during the holidays, they will never let you forget it. You can hear them now, "You're supposed to be an adventurer, but adventurers always have enough coin to buy a comrade-in-arms a drink. You're just a panhandler or maybe a ragpicker. They never have any cash money."
Ooo! It burns you up just thinking about all the razzing you'll have to take.
If you got out of town for the holidays, your problem would be solved. But you need a good excuse, or your friends will be suspicious. Nobody misses Saturnalia unless there is a lot of coin to be made with very little effort. Now, let's see. What would be a good excuse that would convince those yahoos at the Main Hall?
How about saying you have a lead to the location of the lost Gruner Mine? That has possibilities. The lost Gruner Mine is supposed to be in the mountains near Grunewalde and you're not likely to meet anybody you know in that out-of-the-way burg. Besides, there's already been some talk about lots of gold ore pouring into Belvarus which isn't too far from Grunewalde. Yeah! You can sell this crock of manure to those dopes at the Main Hall. Just hang out in Grunewalde until after Saturnalia and then a quiet return home. If someone asks, just tell them the lead didn't pan out. You might even be able to extract a little coin from the locals in Grunewalde. This idea sounds better all the time. Off to Grunewalde!
