The Brotherhood of the Darklord is a cult-like society that serves the rogue sorcerer Skeleus.
After escaping imprisonment in the ninth century and returning to Addar, Skeleus began raising a fighting force and crafting tools of war, but also devised insidious methods for undermining and subverting groups that resisted immediate conquest. The brotherhood was one such invention, created to operate far beyond the front lines in neighboring lands where they would recruit spies and collaborators to support the Darklord's mission, and seek to infiltrate and corrupt local institutions.
Radiating out from southern Addar, the brotherhood has extended its reach across much of the continent and has met with varying degrees of success, in some cases bringing kingdoms under the Darklord's sway, in others hitting stiff and organized resistance to their mission.
Members of the brotherhood treat the Darklord with deep reverence and conduct rituals meant to heighten his magical powers.
