The Aua Rift is a natural interplanetary rift connecting the worlds of Eamon and Earth. It's one of the youngest known rifts, having formed within the last century.

The Eamon end lies on the northern edge of the city of Evenhold on the grounds of the estate of Lord Umfrid, one of King Thorvald's courtiers. It was first detected in 1102 when it was too small to traverse, but within the year had opened to its current width of roughly four varns. The land around it was cleared and surrounded with a stone wall, and royal guards stationed to monitor it.

Cautious explorations through the rift revealed that the Earth-side opening was located inside a barn standing on farm land on the northwestern outskirts of the human city of Des Moines. Agents of the king quietly secured the barn and the surrounding land in order to keep the existence of the rift hidden from the locals, and continued to guard it as the surrounding area gradually urbanized. That secret was briefly jeopardized in 1119 when a pair of lucicorns migrating through Evenhold inadvertently entered the rift, broke free of the barn, and flew west, terrorizing the nearby town of Van Meter.

The barn was later replaced by newer structures that discretely concealed the rift, and currently (in the local year 1985 CE) is a row of small commercial storefronts on Douglas Avenue.

Members of the Guild of Free Adventurers or other explorers and researchers authorized by the crown may travel through Aua Rift and on arrival will receive guidance and supplies from the portreeve.
