The object known as the Apocryphon of Corlis was a device that indicated the locations of hidden caches of artifacts created by the Old Empires with instructions for how to reach them. It was the shape of a flattened box and could manifest text and diagrams on its surfaces. Its use of Kurabysh suggests it was created by Ervuolians, likely around the time of the Lanst-Ervuol War.

The apocryphon came into the possession of the ruling family of the Kingdom of Evenhold probably in first century YA and was passed down as a secret heirloom within the House of Anharos. Each monarch would share it with their heir, cautioning them to use it only in most desperate need. When Corlis III died early in his reign, the artifact remained hidden in its vault but was ultimately discovered by his twin children Calibeth and Charlast who used its instructions to plunder multiple caches. The children, who were fighting a war of succession, put the discovered materials to immediate and clumsy use on the battlefield, resulting in many civilian casualties and hardening public opposition to their conflict.

When the Council of Twelve toppled and exiled the twins, they destroyed the materials that had been recovered from the caches and collapsed the known vaults. The apocryphon itself is assumed to have been destroyed by the council.
