The Adventurer's Guide to Eamon

A free fantasy RPG campaign setting based on the Eamon text adventures

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Dungeons & Dragons, this guide fleshes out the world of Eamon into a detailed D&D campaign setting, complete with histories, maps, and other helpful guides and references.

And what, you may ask, is Eamon? Inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and other imaginative works of fantasy, the magical planet of Eamon was conceived around 1979 as the setting for the Eamon text adventure game series for the Apple II computer. In the decades since, scores of authors have added their own unique pieces to the world, gradually building a complex and ever-expanding setting that's been enjoyed by countless adventurers over the years... but which until now could only be glimpsed in scattered pieces across hundreds of individual stories.

How to use this guide

The Adventurer's Guide to Eamon is a free supplement meant to be used with the core books of the Dungeon & Dragons series, especially the Player's Handbook, the Dungeon Master's Guide, and the Monster Manual. It focuses only on the things that are different and distinctive about the world of Eamon β€” it's history, geography, people, and so forth β€” and generally avoids restating rules, stats, monsters, spells, or other elements that are already thoroughly covered in D&D publications.

The Guide is entirely non-commercial and free for anyone to use. It's published under the Creative Commons BY-NC license, meaning you're free to share, copy, and redistribute the material, and to remix, transform, and build upon the material, but only for non-commercial purposes and with proper attribution. Also please note that the Guide is a work-in-progress and is not complete: it will continue to grow and expand, with new material posted over the coming weeks and months. Check back regularly to see the latest additions.
